Sharia: Necessity and Obligation

In an email alert from Political Islam owner/administrator Bill Warner a video link to about a four and one/half minute lecture entitled, “Sharia: Necessity and Obligation”. In essence Warner explains how the necessities of living out weigh the performance of Islamic obligations particularly as it depends on the actions prescribed by Sharia Law.

The link Warner provides is actually to his website where locates the Youtube video. The Political Islam post only shows the video without any explanatory direction. So I am going to cross post this as it appeared in the email alert with perhaps some editorial comments from me in brackets.

Here is a video on a way to deal with the demands of the Sharia.

The answer to the demands of the Sharia is a full application of Sharia. In particular, we need to understand how necessity can abrogate obligation.]

Sharia Redux: Necessity and Obligation

When I sent out the video, Necessity and Obligation, there were several questions asked about the textual authority that spoke about this principle. The Reliance of the Traveller is a desk top Sharia text of great authority. Section c6.0, Dispensation and Strictness (another name for Necessity and Obligation), reads:

c6.2 Dispensation is when what is normally forbidden is made permissible because of a necessity or need. (You can read the rest)

Also in r32.1 we find: …necessity excuses on from any rule whatever…

Section c7.2 also addresses that hardship can mean that an obligatory duty does not need to be performed.

[Editor: Bill Warner’s link that instructs you to “read the rest” will send you to a PDF document entitled, “Reliance of the Traveller and Tools for the Worshipper.” The PDF document is 336 pages long – good luck locating Warner’s quoted text. But seriously, you might wish to read PDF document at your leisure because the “Reliance of the Traveller” is a Sharia handbook for purist Muslims written in 1368 AD by AHMAD IBN
NAQIB AL-MISRI. This English translated edited version PDF is 336 pages but the original manual is approximately 1251 pages long. (Complete PDF)]

Islam is a cultural, religious and political system. Only the political system is of interest to kafirs (non-Muslims) since it determines how we are defined and treated. The Islamic political system is contained in the Koran, the Hadith (the traditions of Mohammed) and his biography, the Sira.

Our mission is to educate the world about political Islam, its founder Mohammed, his political doctrine and his god, Allah.
