Pastor Mulinde for Nobel Prize

Umar Mulinde is a Christian Pastor from Uganda that everyone should know about.

The pastor said he was attacked by a presumed Muslim terrorist in the east African country because of his outspoken sermons in favor of Israel, and his screening of pro-Israel films.

But the attack, which left him with severe burns and without an eye, had failed to sway him.

“There is a lot of biased information about this country [Israel] and a need to get balanced information,” said Mulinde, seated in the Post editorial lounge with his wife, Evelyn, and their two children.

Mulinde’s efforts to debunk prejudices against Jews and Israel had led him to arrange for a film presentation on Jerusalem.

He recalled that as he left the event in Kampala – the capital of Uganda – a man confronted him. He had felt “a splash of a very hot substance” on his head and managed to pivot away to avoid his entire face from being doused with acid.

The assailant screamed “Allahu Akbar” during the attack. Mulinde said at that moment, he realized that the assailant had been a Muslim terrorist.

… (Story of Love: Pastor Umar Mulinde; by Benjamin Weinthal, Building Bridges International, 11-29-12)

I found out about Pastor Mulinde from an email that is pushing for a Nobel Peace Prize. Frankly I view this might be an uphill battle because of Pastor Mulinde’s support for Israel and the OIC having so much influence on Europeans to disparage Israel.

I signed the petition and I urge you to do so as well too. If for no other reason to expose the nature of Islam to express such hatred that violence is the typical outcome especially as that hatred relates to Jews.

Below is that email with the appropriate links to go to show support for a Nobel Peace Prize for Pastor Umar Mulinde.

I tend to have the perhaps crazy belief that people will listen.

And when something feels really right to me, I often act.

So when it felt right to me, several days ago, to nominate Umar Mulinde for the Nobel Peace Prize, I did it:

Since then, I've created a small site that tells people about him, and again, asks them to sign. It was just completed this afternoon:

And who is Umar, in case you missed the previous email? Living in a country with a high Muslim population, he left Islam and converted to Christianity though he knew the risks. He even became a Christian minister. And if that wasn't enough, he spoke out for Israel. His face has been half burned off by acid.

My sense: his amazing courage must touch people. Masses of people will want to sign the petition, just to show their support.

I've been disappointed at the low number of people who have signed so far - only 155. Way more people have seen the petition, including on lots of counter-jihad Facebook groups.

On the other hand, I've been touched by what people have written, on why they signed. The first person wrote: "Because he stands for love."

You can read all the comments here (names deleted, in case anyone doesn't want their name public):

If you care about the petition, what could you do? Share it wherever possible. Church, synagogue, temple. Is it safe for children to bring this to school? I don't know.

You could post the petition on grocery board billboards. I've created a small poster which you can download and print:

Rome wasn't built in a day. Those words are going through my mind.

I know. Like many of us, I keep on trying. So, in case you haven't signed and would like to:

And now, once again, Happy Holidays, with wishes for peace on earth, the true peace of safety for all of us to flourish.

All the best to all of us who care,

Elsa
